Experience
I have always loved reading, the exploration of science, and other academic pursuits. As an undergraduate, I focused my studies in Earth Science and Space Science. I also hold an M.E. from Arizona State University. In the past six years, I have taught elementary and middle school. At present, I am teaching Science to junior high school students in Phoenix, Arizona. I also tutor students at my school, and ran a 21st Century tutoring program in a prior teaching position. In my years as an educator, I have noticed that tutoring is often the missing piece that allows a student who is struggling to close the gap and catch up with his peers. I enter each session with a high level of preparation and work to make each session interactive and engaging. One of my strengths as a tutor is that I am patient. I also make it a point to work with students only in areas where I am knowledgeable, or to attain the necessary knowledge in advance. I am available for tutoring in a wide range of subjects, including Astronomy, Math, Life Sciences, Science, Writing, Reading, and English. When I'm not working, I enjoy hiking with my dogs and otherwise exploring nature, photography, wine, PBS, and traveling.
