Reading and writing appeal to me, and I want to pass this love of language on to others. I have an undergraduate degree in English, with a minor in Sociology, and I plan to pursue a Master of Education so I can become an English teacher. I have tutored grammar, reading skills, vocabulary development, and essay writing, along with simple mathematics like multiplication and division. I also have sessions covering strategies and test structure to allow students to do well on standardized tests. Although I can tutor nearly any subjects at the elementary school level, I enjoy English the most. My degree accounts for part of my love of tutoring grammar and reading skills, but I also have a personal passion for reading that I wish to extend to my students. I really enjoy reading for pleasure, and I especially enjoy fantasy, sci-fi, and thrillers. My aim as a tutor is to help my students learn to educate themselves. Education is not just about learning facts by rote, but about becoming curious about the world and one's own education. I love when my students figure something out by themselves, and I want to continue to encourage this curiosity in my tutoring students.
